Topic Overview
In this section of Higher Endeavors’ “Guide to Your Ideal Life”, we explore the concept of lifestyle management and its critical role in achieving personal growth and your ideal self. We consider lifestyle management to encompass your psychological approach to life, including your thought, beliefs, and emotions, as well as all aspects of your choices, actions, and priorities that you make throughout each day. This includes your routines, habits, and social interactions. Understanding and optimizing these aspects can lead to a fulfilling and balanced life, enabling you to become the best version of yourself.
Prerequisites
The only prerequisite for the Lifestyle Management section is an open willingness to evaluate all aspects of your life. Working through this section will require you to think about how all aspects of your current self are affecting your present circumstances. You need to develop true, objective self-awareness. With this understanding you will need to go through the process of determining which aspects of your life have to change to be more congruent with your goals and your vision for your ideal self. If you aren’t willing to honestly evaluate your thoughts, beliefs, choices, actions, and all other aspects your life, you will find sustained progress challenging.
This will be an ever evolving process, but the first step is to be open and willing to change.
Goals
The goals for this section include:
- Clearly defining your goals
- Beginning to understand your vision for your ideal self
- Evaluating your beliefs
- Analyze your choices, actions, and routines
What
We consider lifestyle management to be the sum of all of your daily thoughts, choices, and actions. The goal of this section is to help you to make all aspects of your life to be congruent with your goals and your vision for your ideal self.
How
We want you to live your life as proactively as possible, constantly striving towards your goals and ideal self. When you live your life reactively, it is hard to maintain consistent focus and progress. Creating a structured plan will help you make small, actionable steps towards your goals, maintaining a proactive approach to your life, instead of reacting to the momentary circumstances you are confronted with each day.
Why
Without sufficient motivation, change is hard, physically and psychologically. There will be endless challenges throughout your life’s journey. By having a clear understanding of your ideal self, and truly believing you are capable of achieving that vision, you will be better able to maintain resolve and focus during those challenging times. Without that driving vision, it will be too easy to succumb to the challenging moments, lose motivation, and revert to poor choices, and habits.
When
The first step in this process is committing your time, energy, and resources to this process. Once you have made that commitment to yourself, and those close to you, the second factor is your willingness to consistently act. You will have good days and bad days. There will be ups and downs. Some weeks you will make progress, while other weeks will seem as though you are stagnating, or even regressing. However, as long as you maintain your resolve and your willingness to work through the process, long-term success will be inevitable.
